PermitSolar is a platform designed to streamline and automate the document management and regulatory paperwork process for solar companies. It provides an intuitive interface to manage projects, automate document creation, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The platform is tailored for administrative staff in solar companies, simplifying the previously time-consuming task of filling out regulatory documents by hand. PermitSolar saves time and effort, allowing companies to focus on what matters most – delivering quality solar solutions to their customers.

Key features

PermitSolar is built around three main sections:

a.
Knowledge Base: Project management and data organization hub
b.
Document Hub: Access to regulatory documents and templates
c.
Automation Hub: AI-powered document automation and review

These sections work together to provide an efficient, user-friendly experience for managing solar projects and automating regulatory document creation.

Knowledge Base

The Knowledge Base is where users begin their journey with PermitSolar. When logging into the platform, users are greeted with a welcome screen that offers a brief walkthrough of the platform and an optional guided tour via tooltips. Users can navigate to the main sections from here.

Creating projects

In the Knowledge Base, users create project folders for each solar project. Each project corresponds to a solar customer or installation, making it easy for solar companies to manage multiple projects. Inside a project users can upload all relevant project data, such as PDFs, images, technical drawings, or unstructured data. This data is essential for filling out regulatory documents later.

Project Status Tracking

Draft: Project created but no data uploaded yet.
Data uploaded: All relevant project data has been uploaded. Platform is ready for automation.
In review: Documents have been auto-filled but need human review.
Completed: All documents have been automated, reviewed, and approved.

Users can delete or rename projects and use filters to easily find projects at different stages of completion.

Document Hub

The Document Hub allows users to search for regulatory documents that are already available on the platform. These documents can be filtered by type (permit application, energy report, etc.) or region (Zurich, St. Gallen, etc.).

If the required document is not available, users can contact PermitSolar support to add it. In the future, users will be able to upload additional documents and train the AI to handle new document types through a simple interface.

Automation Hub

Once project data is uploaded, users can move to the Automation Hub to automate the creation of regulatory documents. In this section, users select the project and document type they wish to automate. The AI then populates the document fields based on the uploaded project data.

Review and approval

After the AI fills out the documents, users can review and approve or edit each populated field. For each field, there is an AI confidence score indicating the accuracy of the AI's input. Additionally, users can view the source of the data used by the AI for verification purposes. After reviewing, users can confirm the document as complete and generate it.

Generated documents are saved in the project folder in the Knowledge Base, with the status set to "AI generated." Users can then download, print, or share the document directly from the platform.

How it works

1.
Login & onboarding: Upon logging into PermitSolar, users are greeted with a welcome screen where they can watch a walkthrough or use tooltips for a guided tour. The user is then directed to the Knowledge Base to begin creating a project folder.
2.
Project creation: The user creates a project folder, uploads relevant project data (structured or unstructured), and updates the project status to "Data Uploaded" once the information is complete.
3.
Document search: In the Document Hub, the user searches for the relevant regulatory documents required for the project.
4.
Automation: In the Automation Hub, the user selects the project and documents to automate. Once selected, the AI populates the document fields based on the uploaded project data.
5.
Review & approval: The user reviews the AI-populated fields, checks the AI confidence score, and verifies the sources. After making any necessary edits, the user confirms the document as reviewed and ready for generation.
6.
Document generation: Once confirmed, the document is generated and saved in the Knowledge Base. The user has options to download, print, or share the document.
